Points of Emphasis

1.  Classes must be supervised at all times.  Students must be escorted by a teacher to and from all classes and activities.  In order to limit student disruptions we must be dutiful and consistent in our supervision.

2.  Each of you have received a list of expectations for incoming students from your lower grade level colleagues.  Please review and provide instructions as needed to ensure that your class is ready for next year.

3.  Each grade level should provide students with a summer reading list and summer study packet.  The packet should include exemplars of comprehension passages, open ended math problems, web sites for daily skill practice, anchor videos from discovery ed, national geographic and other sources that support instruction.  Summer packet should also include a Project to be submitted in August for their first grade. The summer project should be multi-disciplinary requiring research and a research paper, charts and graphs and a visual display.  Packets are due for Principal review by May 9, 2014.

Packets should be distributed at the Awards and Promotion Program for each grade by the teachers for the next grade.  Also during the programs each team for the upcoming year should be slotted on the program to discuss grade level expectations and to discuss summer packet requirements.

4.  All grade levels should be preparing for the End of the Year Awards and Promotion Programs.  Tentative Awards lists for each class should be submitted by May 5, 2014. Award categories have been listed in previous posts on this blog. (Carnival proceeds earned by each grade level's booth will fund the trophies).
